Are you training in counselling or psychotherapy?
Do you need a placement to build up client hours?
Are you a recently qualified counsellor looking for experience?
Brightstone Clinic offers placements for student volunteers or newly qualified counsellors and psychotherapists. You would start by seeing a single client with the close support of an experienced clinical supervisor. Once you are ready you can start seeing more clients, up to the maximum allowed by your training organisation. You will work with clients who have been assessed by a supervisor as appropriate to your level of training and experience.
Supervision and Insurance
You will be in supervision with our own qualified supervisors for the duration of the placement. Supervision is weekly for the first 4 weeks and then fortnightly, or at other intervals agreed with your college. You will be required to hold your own professional indemnity insurance.
Building a practice
A placement at Brightstone is ideally suited to counsellors or psychotherapists who wish to go on to build up their own private practice. Supported by your supervisor you will manage the running of your own practice, including finance, room hire, admin and continuing professional development.
All trainees agree to work within the Code of Ethics of a recognised professional organisation, such as the UKAHPP, the UKCP or the BACP.
Brightstone Clinic is a not-for-profit training clinic operating at the premises of The Hope Street Centre in Sandbach. It is supported by The Hope Street Centre but managed independently, and staffed by qualified and experienced therapists and supervisors. Further information is available on the other pages of this website.
We hold interviews for placements twice yearly, in February and September. We also hold open meetings every two months which provide an opportunity to meet Brightstone staff and discuss whether our placements are right for you. If you are interested in discussing a placement, phone us on 07927 053650 or use the contact form. We will email you an information pack about the Clinic and an invitation to the next open meeting.
The next open meeting will be in June and the next interviews in September.
